WHY THIS EXISTS
We were living in different countries. We weren’t married. And we wanted to live together in the UK, which meant proving we were in a relationship ‘akin to marriage’ – without a single government document between us.
When my partner and I applied for our UK partner visa, we quickly discovered how limited guidance exists for couples who don’t fit the neat, tidy checkbox of a shared address and a marriage certificate. We were navigating the unmarried partner route with no cohabitation, separated by work commitments in different countries, trying to turn two years of a very real relationship into a stack of documents that would get us a UK partner visa.
I made mistakes along the way. For instance, I trusted the document list generated by the online application portal , which is notoriously incomplete. This led to me not submitting all evidence – something I only realised after we’d already paid £5000+. Overall, the entire process was filled with weeks of stress, sleepless nights, and a lot of anxious waiting.
Thankfully our application was approved. And this package exists because I wished something like it had existed when I was sitting at table with seventeen browser tabs open.

This package is designed for entry clearance applications, meaning the applicant is currently living outside the UK and applying to join their British or settled partner. It covers the initial application that allows the applicant to travel to and live in the UK for the first time on this visa.
It does not cover Further Leave to Remain (the extension you apply for after 33 months) or Indefinite Leave to Remain, though the Master Guide includes an overview of what those stages involve so you understand the full journey ahead

I’m not a licensed immigration adviser or solicitor, which means I’m not legally able to provide personalised advice on individual applications. Every document in this package comes with detailed guidance but how you adapt that to your own circumstances is down to you.
If your situation is particularly complex like unusual family circumstances, previous visa refusals, criminal history, unique financial arrangements etc – I’d genuinely encourage you to consult an OISC-registered immigration adviser or solicitor before you start. For clearer, more straightforward cases, many couples handle this entirely on their own (with lots of time and research like we did) – and this package is built to support exactly that.
This package reflects the Home Office guidance as of mid-2026, and is regularly updated every quarter. UK immigration rules do change, and I’d always recommend cross-referencing against the linked official UKVI guidance on gov.uk before you submit.
