Finding Your Perfect European Route

I recently published a post on the best places in Europe for first-time visitors. That post lists best recommendations based on travel type. For instance, Amsterdam, Copenhagen and London are ideal for the city explorers, The Balkans for budget-conscious travellers and Southern Spain or Greece if you want slow pace

I then realized that even with ‘where to go in Europe’ lists, I have seen travellers including myself get stuck a lot on deciding on the best place to go. Sometimes there’s so many options.

Instagram pushing you to go to the Alps, or the Balkans, or a weekend city break
Someone telling you to “just go to Paris.”
Or another swearing by Spain…

All these opinions can be so overwhelming, so I thought that having a curated list of destinations that make sense for you right now would be a great starting point. That’s what this Europe travel quiz offers.

Why “Best Country in Europe” Lists Don’t Always Help

Most advice online focuses on ranking destinations:

  • best country
  • easiest country
  • cheapest country
  • most beautiful country

The problem is that none of those are universal. What works brilliantly for a flexible solo traveller with lots of time might be frustrating for someone on fixed dates. A destination that’s perfect for a slow, relaxed trip can feel rushed and expensive if you only have a week. Or having a previous visa refusal just eliminates some choices.

Europe generally isn’t hard to travel, but you’ll have the best experience when you choose the right kind of trip at the right time, not just the popular places.

How to answer where should I travel in Europe?

Instead of asking “Which country should I go to?” I think it’s more useful to ask:

  • What kind of trip would I like now?
  • How do I like to travel?
  • How much time do I actually have?
  • How structured do my plans need to be?
  • How flexible am I willing to be?

Those answers tend to narrow things down far more effectively than best European destination lists ever will.

How To Choose a European Destination

When I plan trips, for myself or when helping others, I usually look at a mix of:

  • Travel pace (slow vs packed)
  • Trip length (weekend, weeks, or months)
  • Weather – warm or winter wonderland?
  • Budget comfort
  • Planning style – Can I be structured, flexible or both)
  • Past travel experience – How much experience does a destination need
  • How much flexibility there is around dates and routes

None of these are purely about “doing Europe the right way.”

It’s about choosing a trip that feels manageable and enjoyable from start to finish.

Europe Travel Planner Quiz: A Simple Starting Point to Your Perfect European Route

To make your trip planning easier, this European travel quiz to help narrow things down.

It doesn’t tell you what to book.
It doesn’t promise outcomes.
And it doesn’t assume everyone travels the same way.

Instead, it looks at:

  • your travel style
  • your travel preferences
  • how you prefer to move around
  • how much structure you’re comfortable with
  • and your general travel planning reality

At the end, you’ll get a suggested European travel style or region, along with context on why it might suit you and what to think about next.

Whether you’re a city explorer, a nature wanderer, or somewhere in between, this quiz helps you plan the ideal route.

What this Europe Travel Quiz Is (and Isn’t)

It is:

  • a way to reduce overwhelm
  • a clearer starting point
  • a tool to help you plan more intentionally

It isn’t:

  • a guarantee of anything
  • a replacement for research
  • a one-size-fits-all answer

Think of it as narrowing the field, not making the final decision for you.

What Happens After You Take The Quiz?

Once you finish the quiz, you’ll:

  • see a travel style or region that fits your answers
  • get a short explanation of why it works for you
  • have practical thing(s) to consider before booking anything

You’ll also receive follow-up emails with planning tips that match your result. Nothing spammy, just planning guidance to help you move forward with more confidence.

Is there a best European country to travel to?

There’s no single “best” European country.
But there is a trip that fits you better than others at this moment.

Starting there usually makes planning, budgeting, or timing feel much more doable.

If you want a calmer or fun way to begin planning, then take the travel quiz
