ABOUT WANDERING PERMIT

Hi, I’m Becky

For as long as I remember, I’ve always been fascinated by travel and experiencing different parts of the word.

Wandering Permit is my growing collection of travel tips, visa guides and inspiration from travelling 40+ countries and living in 6 countries. (Check out the lessons and mistakes from my first trip to Europe)

I am committed to making this a useful corner of the internet which provides well-researched real insights, that you can use to navigate visas and travel to new places with confidence, ease and excitement.

TRAVEL SOLO OR WITH SOMEONE?

currently, with someone 🙂

Where this all began

My first international trip was to the US from Kenya for a high school exchange program when I was just 15.

I somehow managed to navigate visa paperwork, cross-continental flights and navigating a new culture mostly alone (with friends and parents encouragement) !

That trip was the beginning of my deep curiosity and love for travel. I finished high school in Kenya and moved back to the US for college. In college, I spent a semester studying abroad in London and a summer interning in France.

The travel bug really hit me because I later did a dual 2-year Erasmus Mundus Masters’ program in Belgium and the UK, and then started my career in Denmark after finishing my masters (It’s a lot, Phew)!

When I wasn’t studying or working, you would often find me on the road doing short tourist trips to other countries – I have visited over 40 countries across 5 continents, and I’m still counting…

Along the way, I have developed a deep knack for travel planning, handling visa paperwork, and all kinds of overall relocations.

As an African with a ‘weak’ passport, I know how stressful it is trying to make travel or living abroad a reality, especially with endless visa forms, appointments and financial hurdles.

My goal is to share tips, guides and stories that show you that travel is possible. No matter your financial background or passport, the world can be your oyster.
